What we see when we walk in

Most companies that call us share a handful of recurring patterns. Here is what typically breaks, and how we address it.

Common friction points

  • Revenue grows, but margins shrink because overhead scales faster than sales
  • Departments duplicate work without realising it, burning 12 to 20 hours a week
  • Leadership decisions rely on gut feeling rather than clean data pipelines
  • Hiring plans are disconnected from actual capacity needs

What changes after our engagement

  • A cost map that shows exactly where each pound goes, updated monthly
  • Cross-functional workflows rebuilt to remove handoff delays
  • A reporting dashboard your board can actually read in five minutes
  • Workforce planning tied to pipeline forecasts, not headcount tradition

What we do

Four practice areas, each led by a senior consultant who has run the function they now advise on.

Operational restructuring

We map every process from order intake to delivery, measure cycle times, and redesign the sequence so your team does less rework. Typical engagement: eight weeks. Most clients cut operational waste by 15 to 25 percent within the first quarter after implementation.

Growth strategy

Where should you expand next? We analyse your customer concentration, pricing elasticity, and competitive gaps. Then we build a 12-month revenue plan with monthly milestones, not a 60-slide deck you will never open again. We stay involved through the first two quarterly reviews to keep the plan honest.

Financial performance review

Our finance consultants dig into your P&L line by line. We benchmark your cost ratios against 80+ companies in similar sectors and flag the five to seven items with the biggest gap. Clients typically recover £120k to £400k in the first year through renegotiated contracts, eliminated redundancies, and corrected billing leaks.

Leadership and team alignment

Senior teams that disagree behind closed doors create confusion three levels down. We facilitate structured alignment sessions over two days, then follow up fortnightly for three months. The goal is a single, written operating agreement that everyone signs and uses to make trade-off decisions without escalation.

How an engagement unfolds

No surprises, no scope creep. Five stages, each with a clear deliverable before we move on.

Diagnostic call

A 45-minute conversation where we learn what triggered the search for outside help. We ask about revenue, headcount, recent changes, and what has already been tried.

On-site assessment

One or two consultants spend three to five days inside your business. We interview staff, observe workflows, and review financial data under NDA.

Findings report

A written document, usually 12 to 18 pages, listing what we found, ranked by financial impact. No jargon. Each finding includes a recommended action and estimated effort.

Implementation support

We work alongside your team to execute the top-priority changes. This phase lasts four to ten weeks depending on complexity. Weekly check-ins keep momentum.

Quarterly review

Ninety days after implementation, we return to measure results against the baseline. If targets are missed, we adjust the plan at no extra charge.

Real outcomes from recent work

A 70-person logistics company in Birmingham asked us to find out why margins had dropped four points in two years. We traced the problem to three overlapping software subscriptions, an underused warehouse shift, and a pricing model that had not been updated since 2019. Within six months, their gross margin recovered by 5.2 percentage points.

A SaaS firm with £4m ARR hired us to prepare for a Series A. We restructured their unit economics presentation, renegotiated their cloud hosting contract (saving £9k monthly), and built a board-ready financial model. They closed the round at a 30% higher valuation than their initial target.

These are specific projects with measurable results. We are happy to discuss similar cases in your sector during our diagnostic call.

Questions we hear often

If yours is not listed, ask us directly. We reply within one working day.

How much does a typical engagement cost?
Most projects fall between £8,000 and £35,000 depending on scope and duration. The diagnostic call is free. After the on-site assessment we provide a fixed-fee quote with no hidden extras. If the project scope changes mid-engagement, we agree a revised fee in writing before any additional work begins.
Do you work with small businesses or only mid-size companies?
Our sweet spot is companies with 20 to 500 employees and annual revenue between £2m and £50m. Smaller firms sometimes benefit more from a focused half-day workshop rather than a full engagement, and we offer that as a standalone service for £1,200.
What industries do you specialise in?
Professional services, logistics, SaaS, manufacturing, and healthcare account for about 80 percent of our client base. The analytical frameworks we use transfer well across sectors because the underlying problems (margin erosion, process waste, misaligned teams) are structural, not industry-specific.
Will you replace our existing management team?
No. We work with your people, not instead of them. Our role is to bring outside perspective, structured methods, and temporary capacity. Once the engagement ends, your team owns the processes and tools we built together.
How quickly can you start?
Typically within two weeks of the diagnostic call. If we are at capacity, we will tell you upfront and suggest a realistic start date rather than overcommit.
